Have You Been Offended Lately?

One person claims to be offended by a practice of a school district and the school district changes the policy. Instead of arriving at a consensus of the parents, school districts have assumed a dictatorial position and meekly submitted to the most idiotic complaints of offended individuals or small groups. Has your school district abolished tag during recess yet?

A Rabbi objects to the fact that a Menorah was not represented in a major airport along with christmas trees and the airport removes the trees. Instead of pointing out to the rabbi that a christmas tree is not a religious symbol they immediately caved. The rabbi immediately explains that he didn’t want the trees removed and wasn’t going to file a lawsuit and the airport is considering including a menorah next year. We’ve become a nation of WIMPS.

Our judges bemoan the fact that it took 34 minutes for a savage murderer to die when given lethal injections and halt executions until we change the process. Why this idiotic and misplaced sympathy for the criminal while ignoring the real grief of the family of the victim. The fact that it took 27 years and 34 days to execute this miserable excuse for a human being should mandate a change in the system.

Some crazies claim the smell of baked goods offends them and the smell has to go. I’d be willing to bet that 95 out of every hundred people passing that area would say that they enjoyed the smell. Why must we even stop to consider the objections of a small minority more important than the acceptance or enjoyment of the majority?

The ACLU objects to the religious element in a monument to fallen soldiers and the municipality actually considers taking it down. The ACLU rears it’s ugly head again. President George W Bush solved the problem by making the monument a historical site. Why was this even necessary?

Five Imams create a feeling of unrest and panic aboard an airplane and want restitution when they’re removed from the plane. These individuals knew what they were doing when they deliberately created a scenario in which most intelligent individuals would have serious misgivings. They kept changing seats, they simulated a seating pattern used by the 911 hijackers. They spoke arabic sprinkled with mentions of Osama and they have the gall to demand financial restitution. I hope the airline continues to refuse their demands.

We’ve been deluged with pleas for the U.S. to intercede unilaterally in the situation in Darfur by the same people who complain when we don’t cooperate with the rest of the World. While we’ve been pushing the U.N. to take the lead in Darfur, they maintain their ineffectual position in this and several other matters. We’re told that 300,000 people have been beaten, raped and murdered in Darfur. Compare this with the fact that 1,200,000 people die in Africa from Malaria every year after the feel good crowd in this country banned DDT from use more than too many years ago. Where’s the outrage here?

A U.S. District Judge ruled that the U.S. is discriminating against the blind by making all of the denominations of our paper currency the same size and demanding that we change the sizes immediately. Marc Maurer is the president of the National Federation of the Blind with over 50,000 members wrote in a reply. “Changes that make paper money more easily identifiable might be desirable to everyone who handles money. But the money should not be changed solely on account of the blind. We do not need such a dramatic change to accommodate us.” I agree with Marc.

We used to tell these people to sit down and shut up. All of a sudden we’re bending over backwards to accommodate every minor inconvenience real or imagined experience by an individual or group, WHY?
