Why College?
Today everyone seems obsessed with sending their kids to college, Why? Don’t get me wrong, if you have any thoughts of a professional career, college is a must. But college is not for everyone.
First of all, many of our teenagers had a rough enough time getting through high school and many of those who were GIVEN a diploma need remedial english, math and more when they get into college. Why would you expect them to do any better in college. In most cases they’ll be removed from home, miss your oversight, advice, direction and encouragement and be exposed to greater peer pressure, coed dorms, beer busts, etc.
I went to school with people who couldn’t spell logarithm but could take an automobile apart and put it back together during lunch break. We’ve heard about the computer nerds who couldn’t handle a structured classroom but wound up high tech millionaires. What about those people who can build a house from a stand of trees or those who can’t stop tinkering with items to find out what makes them work, or how to improve them? I could go on but you get the idea. Forcing a reluctant and/or unqualified teenager into a college retards or at least delays their quest for a career.
Worried about their earning capacity? Take a look at your auto repair, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, electronic and other homeowner service costs, just to mention a few. Who will drive the trucks, buses, trains, build your houses, sell your cars, farm your produce, truck your merchandise to market, etc.,you get the idea.
Check out the stores in your immediate area. Forget about the chains. The small to medium sized stores are usually owned and operated by average people with a drive to succeed. Small businesses are the heart and soul of this country.
Last but not least, most of our young people are not equipped to cope with the overwhelming number of Communist and Socialist Professors they’ll find in most colleges. I couldn’t count the number of parents who have complained to me that they sent a rational, God fearing, patriotic teenager off to college only to receive a left wing lunatic in return. If the students don’t accept the ravings of these “educators” they’re ridiculed in class and soon discover that confrontation results in lower grades.
If you must send your kids to college prepare them, teach them to oppose brain washing and resist the “secularprogressives” and stand up to radical professors. A Junior College close to home might be your best option.
